Is real estate slower in the winter?

With the winter months I hear a lot of homeowners say they feel they should wait for the spring to sell their homes....my words of advice.....DON'T WAIT!!!

While yes, the market may slow down a bit during the cold and fridgid winter months I have always stayed busy as a Realtor. Winter buyers tend to be more serious, they look at fewer homes and write offers quicker. There are fewer homes on the market to compete with while selling and prices tend to steady.

I would say, if you do put your home on the market during the winter months, please just be patient and have faith! Your agent (which is hopefully me, of course) will market your home properly and make sure it gets top market exposure. Open houses may have slower traffic, showings may be here and there but just keep in mind that buyers buy houses every single month of the year...heck, I bought my first house in the middle of winter, and now will be purchasing my current home again in the middle of winter! Stay focused and positive!

Don't be afraid of a little snow!!

Hi Ashley!

GREAT advice!  Our last couple of winters have been very busy.  It looks like we even have a closing on New Years Eve (for the third year in a row).

Ashley, we've seen inventory plummet in so many markets that it has altered how sellers should think about putting their houses on in the winter.  Now is a great time in our market.  To be sure, ask you agent for their professional opinion, but don't make assumptions.
