We got a call from a lady who lives in another state but who owns a house in Palm Beach County Florida. She was relocated to another state for her company and had to rent her house out down here. She put it on the market and it did not sell. At the time she had it listed the market was going down fast, slipping down the slope of sinking tides. Well, as what happens in many of these situations, the house does not sell and the renters move out leaving her with two mortgage payments. She owes more on her house than what she can sell it for.
She was borrowing money from her dad for months to help her cover the debt; doing the right thing by accepting responsibility for her own actions and doing all she could do to keep making her payments. She called the bank to work something out with them and put some of her payments at the end of her loan. They told her they could not help her until she was at least 30 days late. The last resort she has is to do a short sale. You see, they don't reward you for being on time with your payments. There is no program to help those that do help themselves. Her father died and can no longer help her pay her debt.
She googled to find a real estate agent who knows how to do short sales in Palm Beach county Florida and our blog came up in her search. She began to read our posts about how to do a short sale. This was her need. This was her pain and our posts spoke to answer her need and to give her the information she was seeking. But something else happened. Something very profound and worth sharing with you.
SIDEBAR: This was the result of blogging for the longtail keywords. I would rather blog for the longtail and get buyers and sellers who have already decided to work with us than to blog for just the short tail and have to 'sell' our services and weed through all the tire kickers and price shoppers to find the one gem to work with.
She began to read our blog. She read about my personal life and my work with The Secret. She totally believed in the law of attraction and began to feel a connection with me, like she knew we were supposed to be connected. Then she read my coaching posts that help my peers; other real estate agents.
This is what she told me when we met on the phone:
I am reading your blog. I am very impressed by the way in which you go out of your way to write on your blog to help your fellow agents in their businesses, that you would take the time to reach out and help in this way speaks volumes of your character. That along with your knowledge of how to do short sales is why I want you to be my agent.
We connected right away. It was like two friends catching up. She could feel the connection and so could I. Now this is another one of our sellers that is not living here and we have to do the listing and the sale through email, fax and phone but one day we will meet because we feel that it is meant to be. I just made another friend and got another listing because of the way that I am blogging on Active Rain.
I did not have to call her, solicit her or sell her on anything. I did not have to call 100 leads today from some lead generator to get this one good prospect and then spend my time selling her on myself. You see, my blog already did all that for me.
