Frustration just one of the emotions Realtor's® have on their plate

I was reading a post by Rain Silverhawk today and could not help but think of the irony of how close it was to that of Elizabeth Kay Williams.  I find it ironic that two Realtor's® on the opposite side of experience are voicing the same frustrations.  Even Active Rain points show them to be completely separtated from one another in experience.  So where does the frustration most often show itself as the breaking straw?  Not with our clients.  Not with lenders.  Not with title companies.  No our biggest frustration, that is but one of the emotions we deal with as Realtor's®, is from our associates.

One would think that we, as Realtor's® would be working together to the clients best benefit.  Unfortunately that is too often not the case.  We have all experienced it.  Know it will happen again and have certain agents that we cringe when realizing we will have to be working with them on the next transaction.  I am not so naive to think that I am not on that list with maybe an agent or two myself.

Yet bottom line are we not the professionals that have been hired to best help and guide our clients?  Would it not be much like a child watching their parents argue and shout shortly after being lectured on 'how to play nice'.  I agree with Rain that egos need be held in check as best as possible or we are allowing our emotions to direct our actions in this already hectic and many times stressful career field.

Hopefully Elizabeth will realize intime that we will always be coming in contact with these type of agents and the best we can do is maintain our professionalism.  An ongoing task when you consider the two virttually identical posts that are written with years and years separation, in experience, with two agents not even close geographically.

Good morning, Mark.... good topic.... hope this is featured.... agents need to learn to keep the emotion out of the transaction....the buyers and sellers have enough for everyone.... women, especially, become emotionally so quickly....and it's downhill from there....

Mark, I am in agreement with Barbara, above (so I hit the like button). I have my inside voice (as I call it) that no one hears, except maybe the dogs, but you have to try to keep a sense of balance, always! Professionals, you know? I will go and read Rain's post (I sure love her name).

Mark, We do use this format to release our frustrations. I try to stay calm but when my buttons are pushed I push back. I am not afraid to let a buyer or seller know when they have overstepped.

Professionalism is a necessity in all fields of work and totally critical in real estate.  I do cringe when I end up working on a transaction with an unprofessional real estate agent but I bite my tongue and get the job done

I believe that with people, no matter the profession, we have to become stoic in our actions, demonstrating professional. Many times people are juggling multiple things or maybe they are just incompetent but regardless that does not have to change or even frustrate us! I think that is a secret to a happy life - knowing that situations may not be perfect but learning to control our own emotions and actions to align with our character. Great insight@markdon!
