What is it about vinyl that makes it so sacred?
Maybe it’s seeing the album artwork in such a large format, compared to a CD or an image on my computer. A vinyl record is tangible, you can hold it and stare at it, and examine it. Digital files disappear into the air. Listening to vinyl is a ritual.

I was in a couple of older houses today and the previous owners must have thought that as well for the way the kitchen floors looked

I'm a huge fan of vinyl, too! To me it's the same as a real book - tangible, it has feel & weight to it. Something better about that than what you can get in the digital world.

Geez, at first I thought you were talking about siding . . . we say "Vinyl is final" when it comes to vinyl siding. Can't paint it, can't do much but watch it fade.

Bette - yes I have lots of vinyl too. It actually is a different sound even with its imperfections.
Hi Bette, I think the word vinyl, brings back the nostalgia and memories associated with the word.
I have to agree with Larry's #16 comment. Vinyl brings back memories and all the nostalgia associated with it.
