This Thanksgiving there is no better way to show gratitude for all of things and people in your life than to give back to your community. Colorado has a wide variety of local organizations accepting volunteers, donations and monetary donations.
Denver Rescue Mission
The Denver Rescue Mission has announced that all of their volunteer positions for Thanksgiving Day have been filled. However monetary donations are still being accepted.
Mile High United Way Turkey Trot
Donations of non-perishable food items and socks will be accepted during the race at Washington Park on Thanksgiving morning to be distributed to homeless Colorado residents.
The Boulder Valley Humane Society is putting together a pet food and supply drive. They are asking for a variety of items including, leashes, peanut butter, cat litter and more.
Every year for the past two decades the Army and the Salvation Army have joined forces to provide and serve Thanksgiving meals those less fortunate in the Colorado Springs area. This is a wonderful opportunity for soldiers and their families to give back.
License to Dream provides and delivers Thanksgiving dinners to the Denver homeless community as well as many residents in different housing authorities across the metro area. This will be their 9th year providing this service. They accept volunteers for a variety of different tasks.
The Rock Bottom Brewery is organizing a Thanksgiving meal for approximately 900 displaced children and their families on the 16th St Mall. After the meal, the families will be given a variety of warm clothing. Rock Bottom is no longer in need of volunteers, however they are still accepting monetary donations.
