If selling a home during the holiday season, keep the decorations simple and tasteful, it’s a good rule of thumb.
Keep in mind though, not all buyers celebrate Christmas. Sellers are people of all faiths, and should not fear offending buyers, but rather be positive in expressing their beliefs. When I show a home that is celebrating the faith of the home owner, whatever the religion may be, I feel honored to have been invited to enter their home.
Sellers what you need to keep in mind is that buyers will be looking at your home and envisioning family gatherings there. Go ahead and put up a tree, making certain to have good traffic flow, and place some garland on the mantle. A wreath on the front door, Christmas lights and a garland hung on front porch will create a warm entry. Make certain to avoid placing those huge inflatable characters in the yard, otherwise they will make it look like the Griswolds live there. Curb appeal is what gets the buyers through the front door.
Buyers shopping for a home during the holiday season are motivated and serious, often needing to make a move quickly, so always be prepared for holiday showings to get the home sold.
What a way to begin the New Year!
