Thinking About Ferguson Missouri - Some White Residents Are Also
It seems that this week we will hear the Grand Jury's decision about whether to send a Ferguson Police Officer to trial for the death of Michael Brown. As the area prepares for the aftermath of the decision, we all know that eventually things will go back to normal.
That's the problem! Sadly the "normal" situation is distrust.
Nearby Ferguson, in a white suburb, there is a group trying to understand the racial issues better in order to bridge the gap. The group "Witnessing Whiteness" meets to discuss white privilege and talk about how that differs from the experiences other races have in their daily lives.
This week, CBS National News did a short piece on this group. I'm proud to say that my son's mother-in-law has been a member since it's inception and is helping to facilitate the start of other Witnessing Whiteness groups. She does not speak on this video. (she has shoulder length white hair with glasses and sits to the right of the female facilitator)
