How can you save money on your energy bill this winter?
Hundreds of dollars can be saved this winter season if you use you know when to turn up the heat and when to turn it down when heating your home. Turn the temperature down 10°, 15° if you can stand it, and you’ll save some money.
During the winter, heating your home takes up a lot of energy -- but if you turn down your thermostat when you're away from your home and during hours when you are asleep, you can save up to 15% on your utility bill if the setback period is eight hours long.

It’s a myth that it doesn’t save money because it is harder to get your home warm again. It's not going to cause everything to run for four hours to get you back up those 10° or 15° accordingly to the U.S. Department of Energy.
Consider newer technology like touchscreen thermostats, they costs $20 to $100+ and can be programmed when temperature changes happen -- and you can even do it from your smart phone.
Grab an extra blanket and turn your thermostat down about 10 degrees this evening, and if you are comfortable and continue to do it in the future, you’ll save a lot of money.
