Union is a township in Union County, New Jersey. Union Township was incorporated as a township in 1808. In the 18th century, the area that is now Union was then called Connecticut Farms. Union township includes the following neighborhoods: Five Points, Brookside Heights, Vauxhall, Union Center, Putnam Ridge, Putnam Manor, Orchard Park, Parkside Manor, Larchmont Estates, Green Lane (Kean College) and Fairway Manor (bordering Galloping Hill Golf Course).
The Union Public School District serves students in pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. And the town is also home to Kean University.
Union Township residents and visitors enjoy ideal location. The township is traversed by the Garden State Parkway, Interstate 78, U.S. Route 22 and Route 82 (Morris Avenue). Union has a New Jersey Transit rail station on the Raritan Valley Line, NJ Transit also provides bus service to New York City.
There are multiple businesses (retail, dining and offices) throughout Union, mostly on Morris Avenue & Stuyvesant Avenue (Union Center) and along Route 22.
