Bonners Ferry Rotary at Boundary County Fair 2014
With the onset of winter in full swing I can not help but look back on this past year's events that I was a part of in one fashion or another. This particular function is one of my favorites even though the money raised is nominal at best. Bonners Ferry Rotary at Boundary County Fair 2014 is for the enjoyment of the kids...no matter their age.

Bonners Ferry Rotary sets up a booth every year for shooting bean bags at cow bells. For the extravagent cost of 25 cents each participant gets to shoot 3 bean bags at cow bells in a 'farm painted board'. Obviously this is not the money making event of the year. It is however one fantastic time for me watching the kids get over their bashfulness and line up.
I try to take on the full carnival act. Yelling "WE HAVE A WINNERRR HERE!" when they hit the bell. Run out to the older people and drag them to the shooting horse, daring them to just try it one time. Very seldom are they able to leave with the one shot. And it is quite entertaining to watch them dig into their pockets for a quarter till they hit a bell.

Also adding to the fun and activities is the Saturday Parade down Mainstreet Bonners Ferry. Part of the ambiance of the parade is the definite small town flavor. Floats consisting of flatbed trailers being pulled with straw bails for riders to sit on and wave. Just about all the emergency vehicles of the county lined up with lights on, and Smokey the Bear sitting atop one of them.
I am always happy to be part of Bonners Ferry Rotary at Bounday County Fair, which I know will always be pleasent memories for kids and adults alike.
