A Short Week, Emergencies Grow in Urgency.
As we move into the holidays, we get to experience the joy and love of family and friends. Many of us get the opportunity to both travel to other homes as well as play host to visitors ourselves. There can be some stress involved with all this merriment.
It has been our experience that the emergency calls that we get during the holiday season can be the most stressful for the client and us. For the client, it is a matter of having a problem with the guests coming or already in the home. Imagine having a bathroom out of commission with out-of-town guests staying with you. Or having the heater go out on Christmas Day. This can be troublesome.
For the contractor, the stress not only lies in the disruption of his own holiday but in knowing that a very real problem exists at a bad time for someone else.
I may be the contractor called to fix that bathroom problem that you are having, that means that I am leaving my home and guests to fix it. Even if it is not on the holiday, the short work week adds to the pressure of getting things done. The scheduling can be a bit tight in getting all the emergencies done on short notice.
Of course the contractor knows that you are celebrating the holidays and need to have your home functioning at its best for the guests. Any contractor with a smidgen of respect wants to get things all squared away before the busy days for you. Remember that the contractor is there to solve the problem, he was not likely the source of it. Be respectful of his time and efforts to solve your emergency repair.
