The #1 Thing You Can Do To Improve...

By
Real Estate Agent with Better Properties Seattle

What is it that you want to improve?

The amount of money you make?

Your Quality of Life?

Your Energy Level?

Whatever it is you want to improve, the #1 thing you can do to get there is to be VERY PICKY about who you choose to spend your time with.

Instead of "making the best" of each moment and dealing with whatever comes your way, CHOOSE the people you spend time with more carefully.

Imagine a day where you can't wait to get to the next meeting because of the people who will be there.

Imagine a day when you don't worry about how much time you spend with your clients, because you enjoyed every minute of your time with them.

Imagine a day when you had just as much fun at work, as you did at home and at play.

Maybe you can't stop the "wrong" people from being in your face at times, but you certainly can control how much time you let them stay there, by removing yourself.

Now have a GREAT Day!!!

Great advice Ardell. As a recruiter, I hear from agents that are miserable with their current broker to the point they are considering leaving the industry, but are just too afraid to change companies. I would rather change companies than feel forced out of an industry I claim to love because of the people I work with. If someone isn't happy where they are, there is nothing wrong in meeting with other brokers, and would probably turn into a win/win for everyone. If you are miserable, you are probably dragging someone else down too without even knowing it. There is not a company or office out there that is the right fit for every agent...

Happiness is contagious!

Allison,

I have a great group of agents who call me from time to time to share their successes and toss ideas around.  Great agents around you doesn't have to come from the same Company you are with.  Fabulous peers to converse with come from all different companies.  No one says you have to spend time with the ones who happen to hang their license in the same place that you do.

I have many friends that are good agents who I still speak with and go out with occasionally...not because they are great agents ...it's because I really enjoy their company.

Ardell - great post. You can experience peace of mind and real happiness when you choose the people you hang around - I learned that lesson in my 20's.  It's also great to be in a job where I get to choose my clients, as much as they choose me!

Misery loves company and there are too many people out there that will gravitate to these types of people. I can't stand being in the office with too much negativity around. The news and newspaper are filled with negativity.

I really enjoyed my state REALTOR presidency because I was able to surround myself with people who thought and acted like me. We had a great year and accomplished a lot.

Nice post Ardell very true.

I don't spend time with many people, and the ones I do spend time with are because I am energized when I am with them...it's all that extra oxygen from all the laughing we enjoy that does it!   :  )

Ardell - Just today someone told me that they had to walk away from someone who was leading her into a path of "trouble".  It takes strength sometimes to do so.

Ardell,  This is so true.  I have, in a nice way, been getting rid of the really negative folks.  I know everyone has their moments, but the ones that live their lives that way have to go.  I can tell you I feel much better!

Audrey,

Yes, everyone can have a bad day.  I try to caution agents not to judge too quickly.  We are in a 24/7 business and sometimes we are just up to our ears, fed up, and not fun to be around.  LOL!!!

But people who come from the right place are always worth it, even on their worst of days.

Ardell - great post. So many agents wants to stand around the coffee pot and talk about how bad things are.
