I wrote this on my Facebook wall this morning: "I wish a Happy Thanksgiving to all those who cannot share the day with family - those deployed service men and women who are sitting in camps far away from home; those who have no family to be with; those who are to ill or sad or otherwise unable to make it out of the house. My best wishes and virtual hugs to you!"
On this beautiful snowy Thanksgiving day, my thoughts are with those who perhaps are not in the best place right now. Those who may have a lot of reasons not to be grateful. I hope that anyone in that position might find something/anything to be thankful for - however small. And I hope that the next year is better and next Thanksgiving they can share with friends and family.
As it so happens, I have spent holidays alone in the past and while it's fine to spend a normal Thursday alone, for some reason being by yourself on a major holiday, especially with all the marketing that screams togetherness, can be lonely. So I am sending out my virtual hugs and my virtual "Happy Thanksgiving" wishes to anyone who might need them. I raise my glass with you. Enjoy your day.
