WHY REAL ESTATE AT THE HOLIDAY TABLE IS AN "OFF" TOPIC

WHY REAL ESTATE AT THE HOLIDAY TABLE IS AN "OFF" TOPIC.

You all know the feeling, ah, finally its Thanksgiving and I can take a load off with the family and stuff my face with Turkey and relax on the couch for hours of Football and not worry about a thing. That's what you think, until the family dinner begins and what topic automatically rolls across the table before the first hunk of Turkey is served? "How much did that house across the street end up going for?" Here we go! Of course everyone already knows what you do so all eyes point in your direction for instant answers. You don't live anywhere near this town but because of your occupation you MUST know. Your Aunt gives a nice little lecture on why the market is the way it is (which makes absolutely zero sense), your Brother-in-Law begins to challenge your opinions on current home values, and you just think to yourself, "All I do all day is study the market and crunch numbers, talk about this house and that house, market conditions, and interest rates, can't a guy just pour the gravy and pack on a few LB's with the fam and talk about aTV show or something? I am sure everyone else at the table is thrilled to have the holidays OFF. Or maybe I am just a holiday scrooge?

I actually like it when someone brings up real estate. However, if they ask me about an area I don't service, I tell them I don't track the market for that area. If I am meeting friends for dinner who I am sure will bring up a house in their neighborhood that recently sold, I'll look up the info so I'm prepared. I feel like I always have to be ON for these occasions so I am.

My family here in Tallahassee had a long list of real estate questions!  It's okay, we just chat about it over the Turkey.

Shawn, I found it very difficult to get into a real estate conversation with family around this holiday. Just like anything however, there are exceptions and the topic will come up at anytime.  Happy Thanksgiving!

I know they say don't talk politics and religion at the table--I suppose now we need to add real estate to the equation!

Shawn Bronson - I can sooo see that happening.  :)

Let me just throw out there my great wisdom backed by 2 minutes of Chardonnay induced reasoning. You do this for a living, you couldn't possibly understand things down here in the trenches.

... back to the lbs my friend!
