Light Projectors Instead of Strands

Tonight as my husband and I were driving home from Lowes we were admiring the neighborhood holiday lights installed today. We spent a few hours this afternoon making our backyard oak tree's shine with mini white lights, the columns of our home twinkle and deciding how to incorporate the large colored lights the children picked out.  This is our first Christmas in this house.  We have a large front porch and balcony at the front and it really is fun to plan with so many options this year.

One of my neighbors pays someone $375 a year to install their lights. This includes the light rental, which made that high price tag seem a little more reasonable.  Although this option takes all the fun out of the experience in my opinion.

One house in particular caught our attention immediately.  At first my thought was "Wow, these people hung strands of minilights from top to bottom and every 6 inches!"  Then my husband realized the "lights" were being projected upon the house.  They had 2 projectors to cover the entire front of the home.  It projected multi-colored mini lights that truly looked amazing.

I enjoy the days of decorating and making it our own.  Although that projector really seemed the easy way out!  Maybe next year.  Especially since we spent a few hours today, 2 trips to Lowes because some of the lights we ended up with were gold, and we only achieved half of our plans.

My favorite time of year.... I will be even more cheery than usual folks!

Hi Ranee, I agree there is some fun, as a kid, hanging lights but nowadays I am all good paying someone to do it for me

I miss decorating. I live in the middle of no where now and have only 3 neighbors to impress.  LOL
