Hurray, you have an ActiveRain blog. Now what? I'm sure you want to be successful and you want to make the most of your time. Here are 7 keys to achieving that success. They are all important and work together to make the "magic" happen in the blogosphere! Remember, this is an ONGOING process!

Blog. Check.
Brain. Check.
You've got the essentials you need to turn your ideas into customer contacts. Now maybe we've oversimplified it a bit, but you've got a pretty powerful tool right between your ears (although it might need some caffeine to get it jump started early in the morning). You're out and about in your market. You're talking to buyers and sellers. You see, you hear, you have the pulse of the market. The fun part, translating those experiences into blog posts that cause the phone to ring. The more you blog, the easier it gets.
As we've said regularly blogging isn't some magic wave of the fairy wand that instantly churns out new business, it's going to take discipline to produce quality content that will get you found.
But there are things you can do to increase the likelihood of having blogging success faster.
- For starters, be a RAINMAKER. If you're blogging on AR from Rainer status and not Rainmaker.....well that's a HUGE mistake if consumers are your target market. Your message is ONLY being heard by other Rainers, so upgrade ASAP!
- Got niche?? The more detailed your blogging, the more likely that buyer or seller who is THIS close to doing something will be calling you. Work the niche. Get search engine ranking. Get found. 20 posts directed to a niche can outperform 200 general topic posts. Our patio home niche blog posts consistently trounce EVERYTHING else we've done.
- Be consistent. We're not saying you have to blog daily, but don't expect a post a week will get you there. To a certain extent, it's a numbers game. Don't sacrifice quality for quantity, but you've got to get enough out there to reach critical mass. Reach the point where those search bots go: "yeah, it's THEM again writing about _________ AGAIN. Give 'em another +1 in the rankings!"
- Get your message out. Repurpose. Pinterest, Facebook, Google+, etc. Make some tweaks if need be, but leverage the work you've done to get more opportunity to be found. What happens when a consumer searches and you've got multiple matches page 1 for your different streams? YOU are now THE EXPERT. Ring, ring, ring.
- Drive traffic where you want it to go. For us, that's typically Wordpress IDX search pages. We've repurposed plenty of AR neighborhood blog posts and made them WP pages with custom IDX searches. Long tail and EXACTLY what gets the actively searching buyer's attention.
- We can't say this enough: BE PATIENT!!!!!! It will take time, but put the work in and you WILL get the results. For us personally, the consumer response is VERY heavily tilted to buyers, but some buyers have homes to sell too!
- And bonus tip, keep learning and adapting. Take the ActiveRain University courses. Pay attention to what works for other Rainers. Adjust your message as you need to.
