Dade County Pine is a very special type of wood used to build many of the older homes in Key West. You won't find new homes built with this wood, because unfortunately, there is no more Dade County Pine as the trees have all been cut down.
Dade County Pine is native to South Florida and is amazingly strong! So when you hear that a home was built with Dade County Pine, you know that it has been (and will be) around a long time!
