Last week on Techie Tuesday, Larry and Sheila wrote about Dragon Dictate. Through the years, I have played and toyed with the notion of using this as an integral part of my blogging and report writing. Needless to say, the earlier versions were challenging to work with mainly due to my southern drawl. I used to joke and say things like, “I reckon the software doesn’t speak Southern.” (On a side note, Sire has problems understanding Southern as well.”) But then, that is a blog of a different color.
I must say that the latest versions are much better than their predecessors. I use Dragon Dictate on both my Mac and PC. Of the two, I have less problems on the PC version that I do the earlier Mac version. The problem with the Mac version is that when the operating system was updated to the newer version of OS X, there are glitches and sometimes the program stops responding and I have to force quit the application.
Overall, I’m quite pleased with performance of Dragon Dictate as it can type much faster and more error-free than I can. All I need to do is formulate my thoughts and it does the rest. I still need to proofread as it does throw in errant words or propositions. But then, nothing is perfect. Generally speaking, I will have to give the software 👍 👍!
