Q: Okay Richie, tell us, why Charles Dickens, "A Christmas Carol" and his character Ebenezer Scrooge?
A: I have loved this subject since being introduced to it when I was about seven years old. I was the type of kid who would look behind the TV to see where the characters actually went...lol. I remember seeing a greedy guy, haunted by ghosts and needing to behave himself. It had my attention even then.
Q: This is on it's way to going to second print. What do you think is triggering the interest?
A: Many things have lined up to produce this success. The Holiday season for one. Who can resist opening their hearts and their pocket books this time of year for good causes. Then, it is a subject near and dear to us all having been around for many decades thanks to Charles Dickens and his Christmas Carol. Furthermore, I believe its message lingers in all hearts everywhere
Q: What message is that?
A: A second chance! A do-over on something not done just right. The redemptive process of regret leads to a better person by breaking the cycle of repeating errors. This story helps people to evolve for the better if they are sorry for what they have become or done. Repentance in the Greek means "change"
Q: How long did it take you to write this?
A: LOL...the real answer will astound you! Ready? Fifty six (56) years. Since I was a kid until now, I have seen all the definitive versions of the Christmas Carol movies and have read the material as well as Dickens and his works too. I always had questions about this movie..LOTS AND LOTS of questions
Q: Is that what you mean by the word EPILOGUE?
A: Absolutely righto! I delved into this subject and searched it out using the PEARLS SERIES method which is reader centered involvement. A watcher of a good movie or a reader of a good book wants and demands answers to questions and closure in the form of personal satisfaction. Second to that, they want to know more. I have given them both and in great detail, before, during and after the story...I even give a 19th century factual time-line and a "whatever happened to" character section
Q: How true to the original story is the EPILOGUE?
A: Quite true yet the EPILOGUE stands on its own too. After all, who hasn't heard the story of forgiveness by now? But I have added some details that have created additional characters. The best part is that the meaning and the points being made stand-out while the characters stay in the background. A page turner or a book that captures a reader does just that. Q: What points or meaning are those?
A: The gift of salvation, redemption, forgiveness and repentance all presented without religion or structure. The results are that the heart is moved into a wordless Universal place of joy and inner peace and rejoices in its own language that I call HEART-SPEAK. It transcends religions for it is the truer language i.e. the language of the soul
Q: Is this a religious book or story?
A: No. I followed Dickens concept of trying to reach people without preaching. There is a force within every human being that was put there that will reveal to them all they have to know and when they read this, there will be a connection to that.... of that you can be sure.
Q: Any other surprises from the PEARLS SERIES in the works?
A: You bet! WHEN WILL MEN COME BACK AGAIN is our next release due out February 2015. It has to do with addressing the lost rites of passage by young males into manhood and the effect it has on the world at large. The result is that real and true men have gone missing and women, children, families and other men and the world at large are suffering because of it.
Q: Last word from you Mr. Naggar?
A: The PEARLS SERIES of books are reader centered and serviced material of relevance to the sojourner as to their content and delivery with only one thing in mind. That whoever seeks out the different subject matters presented will be encouraged and edified and fulfilled now and in times to come
