A Little Pine Cone Experiment; Do you know why a pine cone is all tight and closed sometimes and open at other times? Before you decorate the tree, gather a few pine cones. If they have been in the house they will be open. Place the pine cones in a bowl of ice water. Now, go decorate the tree! When you are done, check on your pine cones. They should be all closed up tight.
The pine cone closes to protect the seeds during the cold winter months.
Our Christmas tree as a whole is not spectacular, stunning, or a showcase for all to observe. Our tree is quite simple. A tree put up to celebrate a most wondrous life to me should be just that, a celebration of life!
On our tree there are ornaments of family traditions; the spider, the pickle, a Santa ornament, candy canes made to look like Rudolph, Christmas bells,...
On our tree there are ornaments of love; the handmade ones from my children, the gifts from the clients and families I've served for the past 30 years, the booties from both my childrens birth....
On our tree there are ornaments of remembrance; a cuckoo clock in remembrance of my grandma, a gazebo to remember my life in Nashville, A hockey player from my trip to Toronto,...
On our tree there are ornaments of family milestones; Destiny's piano, her basketball ornament, and now my newest achievement a beautiful silver key ornament that my Broker in Charge gave me at our Christmas party.
On our tree there is an angel and under our tree is our manger to remind us to keep our faith guiding us in what we do, how we life and what Christmas is really all about.
And it is not just what is on our tree, but the entire ritual of going out and selecting the tree to that final moment when the lights are turned on.
Our Christmas tree as a whole is not spectacular, stunning, or a showcase for all to observe. Our tree is quite simple. A tree put up to celebrate a most wondrous life to me should be just that, a celebration of life!
Along with our usual Christmas books, one of my favorite childrens books is Ellie the Evergreen. I am not going to tell you a whole lot about it, so you will
just have to buy it! ;-).
