Tumbleweed Snowman He’s Back….

The Tumbleweed Snowman has become an annual tradition in Albuquerque.  The Tumbleweed Snowman first made his appearance in the 1990’s some say even earlier.  One thing for sure is he delights commuters on I-40.

The hefty Tumbleweed Snowman can be found this year on the North side of Interstate 40 and East of the Big I.

The Tumbleweed Snowman is quite easy to spot standing 14 feet tall and made from 3 large tumbleweeds.  It took 60 gallons of white paint to turn this otherwise brown tumbleweed into a festive Tumbleweed Snowman.  That’s not a carrot for his nose it’s an ax handle that was painted orange and his cap was specially made for him out of metal.

Now you tell me the City of Albuquerque doesn’t have imagination, sense of humor and talent. Thanks to all that make this fun character possible each year!

Very cool snowman John McCormack .  Way back in the late 60's as a child we lived what was then the outskirts of town (in California's Central Valley). All around us was open land and lots of tubleweeds. My dad made a tubleweed snowman in our front yard for Christmas. Of course ours wasn't quite as big as this one. Thanks for the memories.

Good evening friends.

I hope the Albuquerque Tumbleweed Snowman brought you a smile.  As I was driving down the Interstate today I spotted him and yes he brought a big grin my way.

Glad you dropped by and hope you enjoyed a great day in all you did.  You each are truly appreciated.

14 Feet tall should definitely attract attention. Maybe Tumbleweed is the brother of the Abominable Snowman?

I love the idea of Tumbleweed Snowman. I will have to ask my aunt about him. She lives in Rio Rancho. Nice picture, John and Debbie.
