Things to do in Alameda:  Santa Claus is coming to Christmas Tree Lane on Thompson Avenue in Alameda on Friday, December 5 from 5:30 to 10 pm.  It is the first night the lights go up.  Santa will be there starting on Tuesday December 9th through December 23rd from 6:30PM to 8PM.  Thompson Avenue is between High and Fernside and most of the homeowners decorate their homes lavishly.

Things to do in Alameda:  Upcycle Alameda’s debut art show at Rhythmix on Friday, December 5 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at 2513 Blanding Avenue.  Artists will display their funky, upcycled gifts.  Admission is free and gifts are $5 to $350.  Please call Joan at 510-913-2732 for more information.

Things to do in Alameda:  Transcendence, the artists opening reception on Friday, December 5 at 7:30 pm.  This is an exhibit of transcending artwork  by Bay Area artists at Studio 23 Gallery at 2309B Encinal Avenue in Alameda.  There will be a repeat of the show on December 12.

Things to do in Alameda:  Annie the musical is coming to Alameda on Friday, December 5, Saturday, December 6 and Sunday December 7, 2014 at the Kofman Auditorium.  Tomorrow Youth Repertory and the Alameda Children’s Musical Theater have joined forces for this production of the cherished musical. Tickets are $13 for adults in advance or $15 at the door.  Students/senior tickets are $7 in advance or $10 at the door.

Things to do in Alameda:  The Alameda’s Farmer’s Market is open to the public Saturday, December 6 and Tuesday, December 9 mornings from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, rain or shine.  All the fruits and vegetables are available at great prices.  So good!  Don’t miss the opportunity to shop for delectable fruits, vegetables and flowers.  The market is on Webster Street and Haight Avenue and is open rain or shine.   

Things to do in Alameda:  Alameda South Shore Center and Off the Grid food trucks on December 6, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm in the South Shore Center parking lot near Petco.  The trucks include Senor Sisig, Little Green Cyclo, Seoul on Wheels, Whip Out! Rocko's Chocolate Tacos, Lobsta Truck, Licensed 2 Grill, Thali on Wheels and Out of the Cave.

Things to do in Alameda:  Crab Cove for Family Nature Fun and learn “Treasure Hunt” learn map and compass skills to find buried treasure.  Afterwards, finds out what’s new at the cove with on Saturday, December 6, at 2:00 pm.  Please call 510-544-3187 for more information.

Things to do in Alameda:  Learn to make a holiday wreath with Karim Preuss of Dandelion Flowers at the Alameda Free Library on Saturday, December 6 from 2:00 to 4:00pm.  The library is located at 1550 Oak Street, in Alameda. Things to do in Alameda: The Mayor’s Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony in Alameda in front of City Hall on Saturday, November 6, at 5:30 am.  City Hall is at the corner of Santa Clara Avenue and Oak Street.

Things to do in Alameda:  Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day aboard the USS Hornet on Sunday, December 7 at 11 am.  Ed Silviera, a Bay Area navy veteran, will talk about his eyewitnessing the Pearl Harbor attack.  Admission $10-$10.  The USS Hornet is located at Pier 3, Alameda Point in Alameda.  Please call 510-521-8448, ext. 282 for information. 

Coming events in Alameda:

Alameda Theater presents the Classic Movies The classic movie series concludes the year with Miracle on 34th Street on December 9 and 10.  This is another classic Christmas movie which is better on the big screen.  You can purchase a package of eight classic movies for $40.00 or 4 classic movies for $25.00.  Show times are 1:30, 4:15 and 7:00.   No expiration date for the tickets.  The Theatre is located at 2317 Central Avenue in Alameda.  

 

Alameda Holiday Home Tour and Holiday Tea on Saturday, December 13 from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.  this is the 44th Annual tour is Alameda’s premier fundraising event of the season.  Beside touring five lovely Alameda homes there will be a gourmet shop, Texas style raffle and the holiday dessert tea.  Pick up tickets and do some shopping at the Alameda Elks Lodge at 2255 Santa Clara Avenue in Alameda. Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 on the day of the tour.  Tickets and information at 510-629-6208.
