International Tamale Festival This Weekend
The annual International Tamale Festival in Indio is not to be missed this weekend! This is the 23rd year for the festival, which takes place every year in December. Recently Food Network-TV included the festival in its top 10 "All-American Food Festivals" in the nation!
With more than 125,000 people attending the festival each year, it just keeps getting bigger and better. Each tamale vendor makes anywhere from 2,000 to 5,000 tamales for the weekend. Some flavors are so unique you would never think of it as a tamale.
If tamales aren't your thing, there is a lot more than just tamales at the festival. There really is something for everyone.
The annual festival begins with the City of Indio Tamale Festival Parade and includes carnival rides, and of course tamale eating contests. Other attractions include:
- Live entertainment on five stages
