Cliff House Lodge  FOR SALE $1,800,000

A Red Rocks Favorite Since 1864
From its origin as a private mansion nearly 150 years ago, through its testament to the mountain spirit throughout the 20th Century, Cliff House Lodge is embedded with a rich and colorful history. Recognized as a member of the National Register of Historic Places, Cliff House Lodge has been a lynchpin to Colorado’s past and an all important element in the future of Red Rocks and the town of Morrison, Colorado.

As a Bed and Breakfast and a gateway to all that is Colorado, Cliff House Lodge is truly unique. The opportunity to walk its storied grounds, relax within its celebrated buildings, and enjoy the personal attention given by its dedicated management team offers guests an incomparable experience few B&B’s can provide. Welcome to Cliff House Lodge – A Red Rocks Favorite since 1864.

Experience-2With a main Lodge and 8 individually themed Cottages (e.g. Camelot, Dino, Peking, Honeymoon, etc.), all including hot tubs. The Lodge Front Desk/Sitting Room area is reminiscent of a quaint rural European B&B. The Great Room is constructed in a porch-styled setting with large overstuffed leather furniture, high-top round tables, and lodge-like accouterments. The property is approximately one acre and envelopes the 8 cottages and the Lodge House. The grounds, dotted by trees and stone walk ways, reflect classic foothills landscape with a touch of a European/ Southwest influence. The Cliff House is not regulated by stringent policies or procedures, but rather, a free-style approach to guest enjoyment. Cliff House Lodge is within walking distance to town and easily accessible to Red Rocks Amphitheater. All bedding and fixtures are included in the sale.

An Off-The-Beaten-Path Hideaway

Guests enjoy an undiscovered off-the-beaten-path hideaway with none of the usual dictates associated with a conventional hotel. The units are clustered around the main lodge and each is themed to create an individualized and unique environment. The guest lifestyle includes a lazy, relaxed and unpretentious experience. The location, in the heart of Morrison’s business district, is within minutes of Red Rocks and at the start of Bear Creek Canyon leading to the historic town of Evergreen, Mount Evans, and the Arapahoe National Forest. Guests are offered the opportunity to enjoy the laidback pace of a historic Colorado mountain town; explore the internationally acclaimed Red Rocks and its equally famous concert amphitheater; schedule a beautiful drive through the canyon for lunch or dinner in Evergreen; or enjoy an incomparable day of hiking. In short, a stay at Cliff House Lodge represents a very eclectic encounter in a unique setting and an incomparable location.

The Cliff House Lodge is Steeped in Colorado History

Town founder, George Morrison, originally built the mansion in 1864 as his private residence. As a quarryman, Morrison developed the building stone and other industrial stone (lime, gypsum) of the Morrison/ Mt. Vernon area, bringing fame to the region for its high-quality dimension stone. Two of the three stone buildings he built in Morrison, as well as the Mt. Vernon House further north, are still standing; all three surviving buildings are recognized historic sites (National Register of Historic Places, 1976). Before its demolition in 1982, the original Evergreen Hotel, built by George Morrison in 1874, served as the first home of Sacred Heart College (now Regis University), and later as the Mt. Morrison Casino, where John Brisben Walker entertained many of the dignitaries he brought to the foothills as part of his promotional enterprises. The Morrison Schoolhouse he built served the town’s educational needs from its construction in 1875 until 1955, and stands today as a private residence. Morrison died at his residence in 1895. The John Swanson family bought the mansion shortly after Morrison’s death and ran it as a hotel naming it the Cliff House. The Cliff House Lodge now stands as one of the oldest remaining structures in Morrison, Colorado.
