Week 10 of the great adventure

By

Yes, this is week 10 of the home improvement saga. Not much happened in week 9. The kitchen is now complete and we are filling up the new cabinets with all the kitchen stuff that was stored in the guest bedroom all this time. We have started moving everything that is on the carpeted floors to other areas so that we can re-carpet. This means a complete bedroom set, fish tank, piano, sofa, etc.

The staircase is set to be demolished today. We started a week ago, but I stopped it because I did not like they way it was looking. We replaced 3 steps and started refinishing the rest, but the guys who built the staircase must have worked on Habitat homes...there were about a thousand nails in each step!

So, we are replacing every step and part of the hand rail system. This should be complete by this weekend, I hope. Then the re-carpeting can begin. Hopefully, we will be done by Christmas, but not holding my breath!

In a couple of weeks I will post a list of all the companies that have worked on my home with phone numbers. There is not a one that I would not recommend.

Peter, sounds like all is progressing well. I hope the Holidays aren't delaying progress too much and you truly will be done by Christmas.

Having just seen the recent post, my take is that you are trying to retain some sanity while remodeling. Good Luck
