Huge Storm rolls into the San Francisco Bay Area?

I have to say, I'm a little amused by all the fuss. They're calling it the biggest storm to hit us in maybe 5, 10 years. All schools will be closed in 5 Bay area counties Thursday. 1 to 3 inches of rain in urban areas and maybe 8 inches in the hills. Up to 70 mph wind gusts - one news site called it hurricane force winds?

Huge waves at the beaches, maybe closing Golden Gate Bridge because of wind gusts. Alcatraz tours are cancelled. Urban flooding, downed trees, power outages and flooded highways.

I guess we'll see how it all plays out Thursday. The worst for SF is expected between 8am and 2pm. I'll be right here!

Meanwhile, I-80 is shut down again tonight (midnight) near Emeryville because of protestors, again!

Good morning John. I certainly hope that the actual storm is not as bad as predicted. Be safe.

Hi Sheila and Susan,

I get it now. There was no deluge, no sideways rain. But the radar maps showed yellow and orange rain over San Francisco all day. Even now. We just stayed home, thankfully with our electricity still on! Avoided the flooded highways. We're on the side of a low hill, so no low level flooding, no landslides. All is well.
