There's a great tourist thing that I do with tourists who visit Washington,DC in December.
There is "the" White House Christmas Tree, which we go to see. In the middle of all the monuments and buildings on the Mall, so it's a neat site. It also works with kids, so that's a bonus. And we can always bring our dog, so that's another bonus.
Besides the "tree", there are 50+ other trees, one for each state and territory. It's always fun to see what themes each state is using for that particular year.
There's also a giant train set.
A National Yule Log for the wiccan set (I think) is gone.
Some out of town clients were here last week from LA, and I suggested they check this out when their sister from Philly came down to spend the day with them. They weren't as jazzed about it as I had been, but maybe that's because I always tour with an inquistive dog, and I myself can essentially strike up a conversation with each of the christmas trees, so it's always social.
Tonight as I read a local blog, I never figued out why. Google has adopted the project, and every tree is now a bland looking tree. Rather than tell you much more, I'll suggest you read the blog, since they state it much better than I.
Somehow, Google is trying to get girls to code & program, and they've used the trees for that. Okay, I'll have to accept that as a greater good.
I will likely be going to see this on Sunday since it should be a relatively nice day. I'll update my thoughts when I've seen and know what I am speaking about. (that's a novel idea sometimes, right).
I'll credit www.princeofpetworth.com for the photo and the back history to this.
