Are you planning on placing your home on the market this spring? If so, you are not alone. It's a common belief among home sellers that the spring market is the best time of year to sell.

If you are planning on putting your home on the market this spring, make sure you are ready to go when the time comes. You want your home to stand out among the competition.

Here are a few things you can do now so your home is ready come spring time:

Home Improvements - If you have already started on any home improvement projects, then make sure they are completed. There is nothing worse than a partially completed project. It could give the impression that the home was neglected and not properly maintained. Interior painting can be done during the winter months. Remember neutral colors appeal to the masses. Don't forget to look up and paint the ceilings if needed. Clean your rugs, or replace them if they are in bad condition.

Home Repairs - Make sure all heating, plumbing and electrical systems are in good working order. dripping faucets, cracked molding, squeaky doors, anything that is broken or loose should be fixed. Repair any broken windows, squeaky doors, leaky pipes, etc. Perhaps you should have a home inspection. It's a minimal upfront cost that could save you hundreds, if not more to discover and repair something in advance. Why leave it open to negotiation after the home inspection?

Tidy up and declutter - Admit it, you have accumulated "stuff" in your home! This is a big one and something you might not necessarily notice until you start thinking about packing. Take a good look around your home and make a list of what you must take with you when you move. Remember, you are going to have to pack it yourself, or pay someone else to do the job. Start categorizing what is to be kept and moved, or whether it needs to be given away, donated or thrown out. Do this sooner rather than later. You might even want to start packing. This can be a huge time and stress saver when it comes time to move.

Most importantly, pick a Realtor you can trust. One that will provide professional advice and guide you through the home selling process. If you would like additional tips on preparing to sell, visit my page for seller information on SkillfullySold.com.
