There are so many beautiful areas, events and homes in and around Charlotte, NC. It has been difficult to choose just one to share.
The other day I was driving through Matthews, NC and I drove past the Historic Matthews Reid House and did a double take for it was all decorated and looking so very lovely.
It has been on my mind so today I drove to Matthews and stopped my car and actually walked around the house and took some pictures. It amazes me how we can live in an area and know so little about the history. I have lived in Charlotte, NC since 1993 and have driven past this house many times, but could not tell you much about it except that it is a beautiful old house.
I have discovered that this house was built in 1890 by Edward Solomon Reid. It is also one of the few remaining Victorian homes that has been maintained from that era.
"The Reid House is owned and operated by The Matthews Historical Foundation and available for rental for special occasions."
Check out the link and enjoy the lovely interior pictures. This would be the perfect place for an afternoon tea.
There is something very charming about these old homes. Would love to hear of the stories of the past Christmas celebrations that were enjoyed at the Historic Matthews Reid House.
