What do you do when the majority of email you receive from a person very important in the day-to-day operations of your business sends email marked as URGENT in the subject line two or three times daily?
Personally, as a email recipient, I feel as if I’m being shouted at, or even threatened when a sender uses all CAPITAL LETTERs, or OVERSIZED FRONTS in the subject or text.
I’m not sure how to handle this situation as I find it quite annoying, and my day is often interrupted when receiving supposedly URGENT emails from this person. Is the email BULL or is it important? I need to take time to stop, whether I’m out and about, or with a client, to thoroughly read the mail for fear I may miss something truly important.
This person has been requested not to identify an email as being URGENT unless it truly is, but it’s obvious these requests have gone in one ear and out the other, and not hit the brick yet.
How would you deal with a sender of email who constantly places the word URGENT in the subject line?
BTW -- the person sending the shouting emails is not a client, but a person working in our brokerage.
