Where there is a will there is a way

Good morning everyone-If nothing else grows you can count on weeds growing even when you do your best to thwart them.  This is the lattice that is around the bottom of my woman cave and last year I got down on my hands and knees and crawled under the building and put heavy black plastic the whole length of the building.

It is about 3-5' wide and the building is 36' long so doing this was no easy task but I figured once it was done I would not have to contend with the weeds popping out from underneath there anymore. So imagine my surprise when I found this sticking out from underneath there.  Truly unbelievable.  I HATE weeds. I have found these in other places as well and they have a very large root system but I truly thought I had taken care of the under the building problem.  For the most part YES but when it comes to weeds where there is a WILL there obviously is a WAY.

Hi Sharon -- very strong, very determined and such an annoyance.

Beth-They are a determined weed. I have no idea what they are but I have found several of them in different locations, Just didn't expect here.

Lottie-Good definition and definitely NOT wanted

Debb-I should have that much tenacity.. I thought I did until I come up against these determined weeds. Hugs back to you

Nicole. I have done all of that and but heavy black plastic and apparently they still found a way

Alexandra-They do indeed and that really irks me with all the work I have put into preventing them.

Jon-It has been a battle of the wits and thought I had won in that area but this one wanted to flaunt itself in my face to say I am HERE.

Michael-BIG annoyance. If I never saw another weed I would be deliriously happy. Somehow the battle will continue. It is much more manageable than last year but I keep fighting the same old battle

Weeds to me, are like a distraction to keep you from achieving a goal.

That's funny.  If you had planted that one, it would have never grown.  I have seen weeds pop up between boulders up in the mountains with no other vegetation around.  They do tend to have a mind of their own.

Hello Sharon ... wonderful post, photos and words to follow

PS: All the days & months VB spent in Alaska looking at vacant acreage, I kind of started liking weeds with their flowers and such.

Carolyn-Intersting way to love at it

Erin-Whatever this thing is it surely has a mind of its own. They are a challenge

Bob-Thank you. There are weeds with flowers that are pretty but this is just foliage and very agressive, This is not a weed that I like at all

I have been in this situation....it's amazing how they find a way to grow.  Frustrating, but inspiring!

I once sold a home to a gentleman who researched weeds, Sharon.  He said they have a bad rap and can be very beneficial. He loved them.

This plant did provide some nice greenery before you cut it away.

Roy-Green was about the only thing it provided and I have to hope it doesn't come back.

I have two little trees getting out under my house. I feel bad cutting it out. But my gardeners don't,  they cut them.  I noticed,  trees still regrowing.... Magic.

Good morning Sharon. You have to remember, weeds are nothing more than unwanted flowers.

Weeds remind of the law of entropy, things heading toward chaos. It is just the way the world works, and that includes weeds. They are darn persistent it seems in nature Sharon.

Michael-But no flowers grow on this just foliage

Ugh...I feel your pain. I used heavy amounts of wood ash over the winter to kill off the weeds in a bad place I had. It worked.

Debbie Laity -It is back again this yr. I am going to get under the woman cave and cover it with black plastic as I don't have any wood ash. I had done the plastic but this darn thing grew behind the plastic. Determined darn thing. I will win. LOL

I use heavy duty weed barrier in my garden. That sure takes a lot of the work out of gardening away. Although I still get some weeds, it's not too bad.

Debbie Laity I use that too but they still manage to get thru but not as bad as without it.
