Everyone has their favorite Christmas Movie that they watch this time of year. Because I'm writing this, I get to cheat and pick out my favorite three. One of these is hilarious (I think), one of these is a classic, and one of these is just plain beautifully made.
Number Three on my list is Christmas Vacation, with Chevy Chase. No matter how many times I watch it, it tickles my funny bone in a very big way. Cousin Eddie just slays me with with his RV. So many funny lines. My wife Tammie can't stand it and thinks it's crude and stupid. Oh well, that's the only thing we don't agree upon...Right.
Number Two on my list is White Christmas. What a classic! Although I wouldn't mind fast forwarding through a few of the dance numbers, it's still a great story. Who doesn't enjoy hearing Bing Crosby sing White Christmas?
My Number One Christmas movie is probably a surprise and some of you may not be familiar with it at all. It's The Polar Express, an animated movie featuring the voice of Tom Hanks playing a number of the characters. We watch it every Christmas Eve and truly enjoy the beautiful sights and sounds of this animated film which came out in 2004. The movie has a personal connection for us as we saw it in the theater the year before I retired from my local government job and we hit the road with our family in an RV.
Two of the most memorable lines are spoken by the Conductor, voiced by Tom Hanks:
"Seeing is believing, but sometimes the most real things in the world are the things we can't see."
"The thing about trains...It doesn't matter where they're going. What matters is that you decide to get on."
I love those quotes.
So what's your favorite Christmas Movie?
