Dear Mom and Dad: "I miss you all year long but especially during Christmas time." This was Mom's favorite holiday and she kept the spirit of Christmas alive for two months. Both of my parents are gone now but their memories will live on in the hearts and minds of the next generation they helped to shape into caring, loving people. They worked hard and were rewarded with company pensions after years of service, something that is fast becoming a thing of the past. Your family wishes you were still here with us on Christmas Day and you will be. Strong spirits never die!

John Mayer, Your post brought tears to my eyes. Both my parents are gone and my oldest brother just passed away in July. Our parents were from the same generation and loved the same music too. You are right, they will always live on in our hearts. Merry Christmas and God Bless.

I sometimes say that I was totally orphaned by age 32. My dad died when I was 23, my mother 9 years later. The holidays tend to find me thinking a great deal about both of them, and how much I miss them. Your comment to Carla is so true. How we raise our children and grand children, and the memories we create for them during the holidays will go a long way in how we are remembered. That is likely our best legacy!
