I have the honor of saying I'm a third generation Realtor. When I was growing up I often found myself at the real estate office my father was a part of with my two younger brothers. When all three of us showed up the other agents in the office called us Huey, Dewy, and Louie after the three nephews of Donald Duck. I so wanted to be able to answer those agents in a Donald Duck voice, but I could never manage to do it.
Both while at the office and at home I'm sure us three boys would ask dad questions about what he was doing and enjoyed looking through the real estate books in the office. I'm sure there were times we dreamed of living in some of the huge houses we saw.
Over the years I must have absorbed some of the things my dad and grandfathere were doing because at the end of high school I took the class to get my real estae license. Taking the class was really boring for me because I knew most of the material, it was second nature to me. I often found myself teaching others the material. They often commented on how I must have been picking up the material so easily because I was so young. I told them it was because I had been around this material most of my life. I soon found myself taking and passing my licensing exam. I soon let that license lapse because I was off at college but I had not lost interest in doing real estate.
As the years passed, I found myself as a real estae investor and acquired several rental properties which I managed myself. As time passed, and the market improved, I found myself wanting to get back into real estate full time. Now I'm celebrating my third Christmas as an active agent and looking forward to becoming an associate broker before my next Christmas!
