Happy New Year y'all!
"New Year's most glorious light is sweet hope."
Mehmet Murat ildan
Have you made any New Year's resolutions yet? No? Me neither. I'm making wishes instead. Whether or not those come true this year, is largely up to me.
Of course there's this thing called fate, and life happens, too. I can't control it all but I can give it my best shot to make my wishes come true.
What's the secret to fulfilling your wishes?
1. Be realistic.
2. Don't wait for luck to find you.
3. Celebrate the small stuff.
4. Keep a positive attitude.
5. Visualize and use positive reinforcement strategies.
Would I like to win the lottery this year? Sure but for that to happen I would have to play and beat the one-in-a-trillion odds... not likely to happen. While it would lift a burden off my shoulders, there are other steps I can take to feel less financial pressure: continue to live within our means, save before spending, don't touch our emergency fund unless there is a true emergency, feed my nest egg.
I can do all of the above. It's realistic and I can celebrate along the way. I can visualize it and use positive reinforcement. If the word "never" has been part of your vocabulary, throw it out. Thinking "never" will hold you back. Instead tell yourself "I will" and feed yourself images of having fulfilled your wishes.
I have a long wish list for 2015 but none are out-of-this-world. Should some of my wishes remain unfulfilled by the end of the year, that will be just fine, too. I am a dreamer at heart, it will happen eventually.
Whatever your wishes are for the year, I wish you the ability to dream, the time to celebrate, the courage to reach for the stars and the strength to overcome any obstacles.
Make a wish this year, it's going to be a great one!
P.S. If your wish is to buy a home in Silver Spring, MD and beyond this year, I can help you make this wish come true.
