Thanks For The Memories!

Whenever Rich and I travel some place new, we pick up a new ornament for our Christmas tree. Each one is unique and it brings back a memory of our visit. This year we took a cruise, which wasn't new, but where we went and who we went with was new!

In early November, we took a short 5 day/4 night cruise to the Bahamas with my sister, brother-in-law and niece. We had a wonderful time. When we were back in Florida we spent some time with aunts, uncles and cousins (and of course, friends) and then we had a full day at Sea World in Orlando.

We decided on 3 ornaments for this trip that will remind us of our time on and off the ship, eating to our hearts content, watching Vegas style shows, playing shuffleboard and shooting hoops. And although, it was a cold and later rainy day, the time we had at Seaworld enjoy their spectacular water shows and creatures of the deep.

It was an wonderful time together that I would love to repeat, again and again!

(This is my entry in Debbie Laity's wonderful AR contest, "Show Us Your Home For The Holidays".)

Thanks For The Memories!

Hi Donna - Nice ornamants and a great way to commemorate your trips. Mary and I collect Santa ornaments for the tree, but for our trips we always buy a very small painting - they're all hanging together and do make nice memories. Have a safe and happy New Year's!

That's a great idea - to bring home a souvenir that you can enjoy every single year going forward. Those memories will all be floating around your tree.

Dick~ It's fun to bring home treasures from our trips!

Liz~ After my recent visit to the hospital, I thought I might be "grounded" again. Believe me, I'm going to enjoy every chance to travel in 2015 as I can!

Joanna~ I've got some places I'd like to see. Top on my list right now is Hawaii!

Tammie~ Leave it to me to be unconventional. It was my "planned" post.

Kat~ It makes for a unique tree, that's for sure. I love it!

Sharon~ It's one "tradition" we've started and held on to!

We also find some kind of ornament to bring home from every trip - and at least one of us buys something new for the tree every year, even if we haven't gone anywhere. This year my son brought a beautiful copper and brass horse - I may have to hang him by my desk instead of putting him away for the year.

It sure is fun to decorate the tree each year when we can stop and think about the people and places represented by all those one of a kind ornaments.

You are my sister from another mother.  I do the same thing when I travel.   Either ornaments for the Christmas tree or magnets for the refrigerator.

Debbie Reynolds and Marte Cliff ~ Decorating for the holidays gets tougher and toughter for me each year, as my health worsens. December was a rough month for me. I think we need to gt a smaller, more manageable tree, however I'm not giving up ANY o my special ornaments!

Donna - I could never be like friends I've known who do a "designer tree" each year. Entering their living rooms at Christmas is a bit like walking into a well-decorated department store. (Well... back when department stores still decorated for Christmas - I'm showing my age.)

It's a great tradition and many years from now, you'll be looking back on all of them with fond and great memories too!

Marte Cliff ~Apparently, I never responded to your comment! Shame on me! No designer trees for me. All of our ornaments (mismatched and colorful) go on ONE tree!

Patricia, I love looking at all our "special" ornaments each year! That's the best part of decorating the tree!
