Winter Storm in Molokai but Life Goes On as Usual

The muffin I am eating for breakfast says on the wrapper that it has 220 calories per portion and serves two, so I am consuming 440 calories in a lousy muffin when for that amount I could be stuffing Black Forest German Chocolate cake with Devil's Food Frosting down my throat. But it is food, so I am trying not to complain much.

At my location in Molokai, there are no restaurants and also no cellphone service for me. We had a huge storm last night that battered houses, pounded the harbor; the wind whirled, whistled much of the night, puddles of water appeared all over my bathroom floor and dripped down over the door -- I closed that door, shut my eyes and pulled a pillow over my head.

This morning, the ocean is very muddy, and there is a ton of seaweed and stuff deposited along the shore. It's low tide, so I should go explore. You can see photos of the dog, Max, and what happens at the Molokai Hotel on Friday nights in my personal blog today: Aloha Friday at Molokai Hotel in Hawaii.

Max would have been a highlight of the vacation if I were in your shoes too.  What a cutie.

Max's adorable little face is one that would be difficult to deny.

When I am traveling alone, I have found there is a slightly spiritual element to stormy days that have me staying primarily in my room.  Usually, they come at a place in the journey, when I need a day off, to simply catch up on sleep, chill and read a book.  There have also been significant life decisions during those stormy days.

So, Elizabeth, why is it I feel you have reached a fork in the road, and are wondering which direction you wish to take?

It's no fun being on a tropical island when there's a storm blowing.

Hi Elizabeth.  You could have shared your 440 calorie muffin with your size 22 friend.

Ha, ha, Conrad, you make me laugh!!

At the moment, I am listening to the joyful sounds of children splashing and playing at the pool,  calling to each other, singing in glee, giggling, having the time of their lives, and their innocent laughter is so ##**# annoying but nobody will ever admit it. And if the people below me don't stop talking nonstop under my balcony, I will pour a bucket of water on their heads.

Life in Molokai at the moment is pretty cool, though.
