Richmond here. Listen, I absolutely love to show ranch property. Ranching is a part of my heritage and a passion for the Texas ranching country is a fire in my bones.
Naturally, given the chance, I'll show ranch property in the Texas hill country where I make my home. So, my readers might appreciate the occasional client who prefers to view ranch properties from the saddle. But this past weekend when the sun finally broke through and transformed a cold, drippy January sky into a cloudless dome of cobalt blue, I found myself showing properties from a different kind of saddle.
By the way, I have another passion: bicycle racing...a habit that has led to my becoming a USAC licensed coach, which means I coach USAC licensed amateur racers and enthusiastic weekend warriors. I do this mainly for fun, though the fees I get paid allow me to pay for updating my toys and comfortably cover my entry fees, espresso, and travel expenses, but I digress...
Naturally, my coaching clients know that I am also a Realtor®, so when one of them contacted me asking to view properties, from the saddle, I knew I had my work cut out for me. We nailed down the criteria for the type of property he wanted, I gathered up some prospective properties, and plotted a route. The day's objective was to get a “lay of the land” and see where these properties fit into the proximity/road access criteria outlined by my client, so this initial showing would be of the dri...I mean, ride-by variety.
We convened for the ride launch from the Fredericksburg Visitors Center and were joined by a couple of teammates from Fredericksburg and started our trek while the spouse whiled away her time in the many shops along and adjacent to main street.
A few calories and hours later, we were back at the end of the ride. Success. My client took his wife on a drive of our route and with her, narrowed down the properties to the ones we will be “walking” in a few days.
An entertaining combination of profession and pass time. Curious, what's the most entertaining showing my reader's have been on?
