With the ball dropping many people take time out to jot down their New Year resolutions. Many vow to get in shape ,(pump you up) eat better (But sweets taste so good), quit smoking (yeah we know, this is the year) and the list goes on and on.
Now as Real Estate professionals; we have the same goals but there are slight variations to how we do things. We are a hunt/capture then eat business; meaning if we don't drum up business by finding new clients then we don't eat. It's that simple. Now I have some things that I want to do different in 2015 and maybe you all have some things that can help us all push the profession further and more importantly fatten up those pockets.
Here are 5 things that can help 2015 be a better year:
- Get up, suit up and get out there: Probably the one most cheat on the most...I found myself looking like this on some days which is totally unacceptable. Bottom line is Real Estate is a roller coaster ride, make sure you don't get caught looking like you just got off the ride. Be professional and dress the part. You are the face if your brand, now act like it (note to self)
- Work the internet more: The world is viral, why aren't you? Bottom line is catch up to modern technology and utilize the net more. From social media to Activerain, get involved!
- Pick up your phone! ...I know it sounds crazy but I fell so deep into the digital world I didn't want to talk to people anymore. Communicate with folks and build better relations NOT just online followers.
- Know your numbers! NOT just commission amounts either! As independent contractors; we all are mini corporations so understanding your profit and losses, projecting your earnings and balancing your books are a MUST.
- Lastly...work on being a better you. Get out there & meet folks, talk to everyone and build your brand. Don't be a secret agent. Promote yourself and find a piece of that market share to call your own. It is time to stop watching the same agents dominate your area; take a stand and take what should be yours. Be the architech of your own brand.
I know it's very easy to talk about doing more but the challenge is to make it happen...I leave you with this quote...
"A year from now, we will see who was really working"
Happy New Year Folks, much blessings and good fortunes to you all!
