All I did was...take a scary shower and turn it into a spa bathroom

Home staging in Toronto and Vaughan we are frequently asked to reno a bathroom for either the seller or the buyer.

This property sat on the market for over a year without an offer. Buyers just couldn't see past the state of the bathrooms. Bathrooms and kitchens are two areas that matter most typically to a buyer.

All we did in this master bedroom ensuite bathroom we remove everything to the studs.

Next we installed travertine stone tiles, removed the box that was built inside the shower ( we have no idea why that was there, nothing was inside it), installed new plumbing fixtures, a free standing tub and custom double vanity along with light fixtures. Free standing tubs are one of the most in demand features in a luxury bathroom.

Our trademark feature in a spa bathroom that has a free standing tub is a curved half wall built behind the tub and a marine light installed in the floor behind the tub to shine up on the ledge rock installed on the half wall. . . makes for some dreamy soaks in the tub!

The trend is to install chandeliers above the free standing tubs. This chandelier is a series of crystal rings that swivel to create a new look chandelier anytime you want to change it up. Unique lighting is also our trademark signature in bathrooms.

Lastly a heated floor was installed. Whether it is for use in the winter or for in the summer when the air conditioner is on this is a must have feature in a luxury bathroom.

We have found working with investors and flippers that their properties now sell in anywhere from 3 days to 3 weeks instead of being on the market from 9 months to a year.

Working with the sellers when they move in to their new home we find that they appreciate the amount of time and indecision involved in making the design decisions on their own.

Hi Troy, I agree that different parts of the country want different looks. In our area stone is the #1 choice however the new porcelain look alikes are so advanced now we have seen a change in buyers wants. They love the care free cleaning of the porcelaine tiles, no yearly maintenance like with stone.

HI Maureen, the bathroom took 10 days to complete. The investment was approximately $ 12K for material and labour.

HI Sharon, I think we say that all the time as we know that if you try to work around what is in a room you will have indecision and end up with new room that is not what you thought it could be. We find that the easiest and least expensive route is always to take a room out to the studs and then design the room from there.

I love the new porcelain tiles that look like stone. Depending on the finish of the tile, they can actually feel like stone. Are the walls of the shower stone or porcelain?
