Each winter VFD responds to numerous house fires resulting from citizens warming their homes. Keep the following safety tips in mind while keeping your homes warm:
-Have your chimney professionally cleaned if you intend to use your fireplace
-Keep space heaters at least 3 feet away from anything that can burn
-Always turn off space heaters when leaving your home
-Do not use gas stoves/ovens for heat, this leads to dangerous levels of carbon monoxide
