Ringing and Singing Challenge with
Rob Spinosa - Mortgage Industry

Thanks to Debbie Reynolds , this month, January 2015, members of AR have been Challenged to go RINGING and SINGING! In the description, Debbie asks that we "tell why you decided to call this person and something you learned ..."

To start with WHY - I remembered seeing Rob Spinosa, Marin Mortgage, in a peppy video once and thinking that it would be hard for me to replicate his seeming comfort. If you go and read Rob's 'Members Only' post from January 8th, he explains his strategy for developing new talents.

Now something I learned? Well, I learned that Rob Spinosa is a man who started out young in a loving family and decided, at the tender age of 17, to move from one side of the USA to the other. That's how he arrived in California.

Rob felt confident and never regretted his decision to forego college and pursue his IT interests. He followed a path in IT until he got an assignment that changed his life forever - well, so far anyway! With a person such as Rob, you never know when careers might change again!

Rob's assignment, he said, "... was to a 'Mom and Pop' company - and I mean that in every sense of the words!" The owners wanted to go online and a long period of work began.

The firm Rob was assisting brokered mortgages. Little by little, seeing that folks working at the Mom and Pop Mortgage business were making more money than he made caused him to reflect.

He realized that at the IT job he had, his future earnings were limited. All his life he had pursued excellence in everything e did. Now he decided that he could also focus on raising his earnings as well. His plans for the future began to take a different path.

Where Rob lived, one had to get a real estate license before he/she could work in the mortgage field. So off he went to learn the trade  - and the rest is history.

You may go to his YouTube channel and enjoy his signature videos: THE MORTGAGE DICTIONARY: Home Financing presented in Black & White. In the series, Rob explains in a concise manner many Mortgage terms and answers questions. For example, Rob answers the question below:

That's all about his work --- what did he have to say about AR? Rob said he would be hard pressed to explain ALL the benefits of AR. When he joined, he had no idea of the DEPTH of the community. He thought it would be 'a good thing to do' for business. Now he explains, AR brought him much, much more.

"I have developed friendships here is ActiveRain that are very important to me," he said.

"Active Rain has been the woodshed in which I've developed my voice,"  he said. I asked him what advice he would give someone who wanted to work in the Mortgage field. He answered: "The key to success in business is Relationships. A person needs a deep network and [some specific behavior traits.]

***  You need a strong desire to help others.
***  You need to be
available when needed.
***  You need to be
able to talk to all kinds of people.

"I guess I maintained my confidence time after time because of all the new things I taught to myself over the years. I was never content to just stand-by. I taught myself guitar, Italian, how to be a Mountaineer and to participate in a Triathalon."

Rob Spinosa offers a powerful package to his Clients. Rob is someone who demonstrates the very qualities he suggests for new Mortgage Originators. Contact him for your Mortgage Advice in Marin County, California.

And ... one more Mortgage joke --- can't resist! This one is probably around since your Mom and Pop Mortgage company began ...
Bye for now-

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A mortgage broker dies suddenly.   He immediately goes to visit St Peter who is sitting in front of the pearly gates.
St Peter tells the broker: "Well, you are a unique case.  You haven't been good enough to go to heaven but you haven't been bad enough to go to hell.  So, just for you, we are going to try something different.  We have decided to let you pick.   Where would you like to spend eternity, Heaven or Hell?"
Now the broker, being the typical mortgage broker, knows he should just instantly pick Heaven but the thought of being able to see Hell was too much.  The broker asked St Peter; "Well, I know I should pick Heaven but can I see both Heaven and Hell before I answer that question."
St Peter, slightly annoyed, agreed with the broker's requests.
Immediately, the broker is in Heaven. It is exactly like the stories describe.  There are white clouds, golden streets, angels with harps.....it's the storybook Heaven.
Next, the broker is in Hell.  It is nothing like the stories.  It is a large "man cave".  In the cave is a large wall of big screen TV's with every sports event ever recorded.  There are recliners all over the cave and Hooters girls bringing everyone beer and wings.  It's amazing!
The broker is then returned to St Peter.  St Peter again asks: "Where would you like to spend eternity, Heaven or Hell?"
Now, the broker being a typical mortgage broker asks St Peter "Can I think about it and tell you tomorrow?"  St Peter, again annoyed, agrees.
The next day, St Peter asks the broker to choose.  The broker explains; "Well, I know I should pick Heaven.  I've lived my entire life thinking about going to Heaven.  But honestly, when I saw Hell, I just believe I will fit into that environment better.  I need to pick Hell."
With that the broker is immediately in Hell.....but this time it looks different.  It's still a cave but now the broker is chained to the wall.  There are cracks in the floor and walls, each with flames heating the cave to a literal inferno.  Across the room is an ice cold glass of water....just barely outside the brokers reach...never to be obtained.
The broker looks up and yells "Hey St Peter, what happened to the TV's and the Hooter girls?"
And St Peter yells down "You should have locked yesterday".
Thanks for coming by to comment.AND --- yes, I am enjoying Debbie Reynolds' Challenge.  I am connecting - but not because they are  long-time  popular AR members.
In fact, since Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland taught me to call other members, I had to search around AR for five Bloggers whose posts I read but were folks that I hadn't spoken to personally before. LOL
Have a happy day -
Lynn
Yes, Lynn, Rob Spinosa is a great guy; I'm glad you wrote about him. You learned tidbits that I hadn't from phone conversations, and a Meet Up I organized in San Francisco. You really know how to draw out a person.
