Searching Blindly In the Rain....I Had No Idea It Would Be So Fun!

Many weeks ago I decided to expand my horizons here in the Rain and annouced my intention to Branch Out in an attempt to try to meet new writers and members. As with many new habits it worked for awhile, but I've found myself falling back into the old patterns of reading "favorites".

Maybe this is just how blog reading works...much like magazine subscriptions. I tried Oprah's magazine, but decided it was too heavy for me to read on a consistent basis. Every now and then I'll glance at it while in a waiting room or lobby, find an article of interest and think "hmm, maybe I should read this on a regular basis". But then I buy the magazine and realize why I'm not a regular subscriber. Good stuff, just not what I'm interested in on a regular basis. 

So the other night, while looking for new writers who might "Wow" me, I decided maybe I just needed to visit or join a new Active Rain Group or two. 

Active Rain now has over 3400 individual Groups!

Who Knew? (obviously not moi).

Over 1400 of them aren't even categorized. It would take me forever (well, longer than my add gave me patience for anyway) to wade through all of those, so instead I closed my eyes and let the mouse wander over the page until I heard the "click" that indicated the mouse had made a connection. And Voila....I was in a new Group.

 I found the Gadgets Group this way and my new favorite "The AR Cookbook" Group along with a few more.

Yes, I know....way too much time on my hands. But I like meeting new people, exploring new topics and hopefully finding a few new favorites to add to my list.
