Winter temps make me yearn for summer color

Hello everyone-I think there is many areas in the country experiencing some cold winter temps. Living in NY for all my life but the last 8 yrs you would think the temps like we had last night which was 9* and only high of 24* today would seem like a heat wave and it really is compared to Northern NY where their temps in winter are often times zero and well below even without wind chill.

What I have come to realize over the last 8 yrs is that I would never go back there to live ever because I have gotten spoiled with our mild winters plus I have also realized that the older I get the less I like the subzero temps.  Makes me look forward to Spring. So I will think of Spring and share these colors of Spring and summer while Old man winter rages on.

Thank you Ron and wind chills can be brutal.

Kathy-I think even in Fla in the winter that color is a welcome sight.

Sharon Lee Good Morning!!  Those colors are so nice to see.  It is nice to know that with everything looking so white and dull right now Spring will arrive.

Good morning Dagny-I agree it is a nice sight to see when it is so cold but it lets us know that this shall pass and Spring will come and with it warmer temps and beautiful colors. Have a super weekend.

Another thought Sharon with living further south, the mild winters are SHORTER. States like Nebraska and Colorado, often you are REALLY not done with winter till late May which is a long time to go to warm up.

Gary-That is what I am looking at for down the road. Shorter winter weather. I know. Fla, Arizona, Utah and California are mild winters. California is probably not an option for buying land because of cost of living. I remember all too well with the NY weather how short the summer season was and never going back.

Keep warm and have a great weekend. Visit Longwood Gardens for some wintertime flowers in the conservatory.

Sharon, oh, YEAH, bye bye Buffalo!! I don't miss having your LUNGS freeze by simply breathing outside. Too many years, between there and Philly and Pittsburgh in my younger life to ever need any of that again.

Mild, baby!

Good morning Sharon. Yes, I too long for the colors of spring, summer and fall.  The drab colors of winter make me long for something much better.

Gayle-My sentiments exactly. The 0* we got last year and this 9* we just got especially with the wind chills is cold enough for me. Many times in winter we we get -20* with NO wind chill for a week straight. It did hurt to breathe when it got that cold. I don't miss it at all. I will be spending winters in the future farther south where the night time temps aren't worse than 40*. Mild is right.

Good morning Michael-It is somewhat better when the sun is out but when it is cloudy and cold then the world looks a drab shade of gray. Lifeless looking. Spring will be here but somedays in January that seems like forever

Hi Sharon, I do like my four seasons. On Thursday our temps were 2 degrees and today we had a high in the 30s. But now we have freezing rain...okay I will say bring on Spring.

Rebecca-Our weather is pretty similar except I think you get more snow than we do and your temp is a bit colder. Definitely bring on Spring. Next weekend is supposed to be back up in the 50's. Not Spring yet but better than teens and single digits

Very pretty! And I don't miss the cold and snow at all. It is pretty to look at but not for me to live in.

Toni-I hear you and I don't miss NY winters at all and one day will live where snow isn't a problem at all.

Your pictures make me yearn for summer, but I'm still enjoying winter. Although it's getting really cold at night around here. We've had single digit temps for the last several nights.

Debbie Laity -The older I get the less I like any kind of winter weather. Don't like the extreme heat so it is a trade off. I know Belinda got lots of winter weather.

I know once we get to March I will be wanting to work in the dirt and get my garden going, but for now I'm looking forward to fall and the winter holidays.
