I wonder!

"Homes prices are high and buyers should wait for a correction!" cries the headlines.

My response to the above (and to anyone who asked, "should I buy now?") would actually be another question?

Are you currently in the market and actively buying (or looking for) a home?

Interestingly, most of the times,  8 out of 10 times, the answer is usually a "No, I am not, just browsing or just curious and I feel that its too expensive to do so ......"

Thus,  the price (or cost)  does not applies to that person.

I firmly  believe that anyone who needs to buy (not want to buy) should buy regardless (within a reasonable price applicable to that person's ability to carry the cost).

Homeownership is a serious decision and no one should consider doing it unless they are ready (and capable) of doing so. So buy within your reach, not out of your reach.

I will use a simple analogy to explain.

If you are hungry and needed to feed yourself comes supper time, would you consider not eating at all just because the cost of the food is high?  You definitely will consider the cost (by choosing the type of food associated with the cost) but dfinitely not the food that are needed to satisfy  your hunger. Are you going to wait for a week, a month or maybe a year before feeding yourself? Probably not!

Of course, there will always be a segment of the population that are definitely not in any position (for whatever reasons) to buy, so renting or staying with families etc.  is the norm.

And if you simply do not (and there are always these exceptions) believe in homeownership, that is perfectly fine too.

Lastly and interestingly, whenever I come across news and comments on "10 reasons why you should not buy a home now", I always ask myself if the person or persons, themselves  who comes up with these 10 good reasons, (not) already a home owner (themselves)?

I wonder!

If you need a home, then it's time to buy one! As you state, you just need to select a home that is the right one.
