The first reason I love my hometowns is that they remind me of St. Paul and Minneapolis. Notice the difference?
Most people around here and elsewhere say…Minneapolis and St. Paul.
Also for more local flavor we can now say Norwood Young America. Those two towns collaboratively incorporated for more state aid and tax dollars.
I think our towns will, too, at some point.
The second reason is pizza places, churches and bars. The two of them being Catholic towns seem to have more of each than most surrounding communities. I am not drawing any conclusions from this. Just sayin’.
The third reason is that both towns have burst with new development, and mostly kept the businesses. The housing failed to some extent, but the housing market never took the hit that some communities have. There are at least two new commercial buildings, and we are becoming something of a senior community as more and more people take advantage of the excellent elder housing with great amenities, plus clinics and drugstores!
The fourth reason and, perhaps, the most important is our combined school district which ranks at the top of the best-performing schools in the state academically. And sports, fuggadeaboutit. We are one of the contenders… watch out!
The fifth reason is our parks, senior center and biking and walking trails. We are a great community for preserving. We love our heritage. We are part of the Big Woods. And we keep that in our naming of the elementary school, the parks are named for important landmarks and we want our seniors to continue to tell their stories and remain a vital part of our community with their story-telling to the kids in the schools and elsewhere.
Now, I suspect you want to move here, too. Well, just say the word! We have room for you, your family and your story, too.
