Did You Find The Leak In The Wall Under The Sink In Rocklin, CA?
When it comes to finding and repairing water leaks in the Sacramento Region, it was been my experience that it is often in a hard to reach areas. Leaks behind shower tiles, in the floors and ceilings, and yes, even the walls of the kitchen sink. That shouldn’t be a surprise, water supply and drains are found in areas where there is a lot of finish building materials, and so getting to it takes some time and experience.
This leak in the wall that I did was no exception, here is a look at the opening that I needed to work through. Not a lot of room here but cutting a larger hole would make for a much bigger job. When opening walls, we also have to think about the tenants needs and the time required to put things back together.
I was able to see the leaking drain through the opening that I cut but getting to it was the next challenge, the location and angle made for a difficult task. Getting this one piece out required getting into three apartment units; the one where I was, the adjoining unit shared the same drain fitting and the unit below. By getting into these units, I was able to remove the damaged drain pipe. Here is a look at the crack that had caused all the water in the walls and ceiling.
After all this, I still needed to get the new pieces assembled so that the tenants could have use of their kitchen sinks that day. No one likes to be inconvenienced by these repairs, it is the contractor’s responsibility to get things back to normal as quickly as possible. Once the drains have been connected the plumbing use is restored.
Next will be getting things cleaned up and closed up; that will be another day.
