One Simple Message - The SIF Week in Review March 30 - April 5, 2008

By
Home Stager

A simple logo - with huge impact.  A simple purpose - with huge potential.  SIF is all about spreading the word about staging and helping each other to grow.

For this week in review I have chosen to stay within this simple concept and go back to basics, but use them to create a huge impact with hopes to reveal the huge potential of our industry.  The few posts listed here may be few, but are the ones that I felt best conveyed the SIF spirit and purpose.

There were many, many great posts this week and several of them could have fallen into the categories listed, but as stated above, I thought it would be good to go back to basics and remind us all of the power we may be able to harness by effectively using this forum to focus on our true agenda - grow our industry and our own respective businesses.

Stage, Educate and Discuss it Forward....

Always like the updates Kimberly (almost said Kim, does anyone call you Kim?).  And, now off to read the ONE I didn't read yet.

Terrylynn - Most people do call me Kim.  I mostly use Kimberly in professional circles.  My family actually calls me Kimi...however, if anyone outside the family calls me Kimi... I will hurt them. ;)

Kimberly - you hit the highlights as always. I keep putting off the one by Broker Bryant as I have not had time to read all the comments. BUT now that you have highlighted it I have to go in and do it. thanks - for the summary. Always a value to my Sunday night catch up. Kym (birth name Kimberly but when I was 5 I met a lovely waitress in a diner in Ohio and insisted that it was changed to Kym like her - so the story goes. :)

Kim, you did a wonderful job of getting back to basics. Thanks for including me in the mix. It seems to me that the SIF group is and always was a place to post items which will help to move the industry along. I'm so glad you stated that with such clarity. Like so many authors on this site have said in the past -- KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE. It behooves us all to remember that our audience includes non-member, no comments, consumers who will perhaps make up their minds concerning whether or not to use a specific stager or any stager at all after reading only a few posts. Kind of makes you inhale rapidly when you realize that.

Kim, thanks for the post, I NEVER knew that Kym was Kim too.  Humpff and you think you know a person.

Yvonne - you have such good recall and are always so right in your summaries and comments.  LOVE it, and wow, it could be the person who doesn't comment that is making the decision right now to comment.

Kym - Don't delay in reading Bryant's post if you haven't already - it's quite the eye opener!  I like the y in your name - it sets you apart.  That is why we always spelled Kimi with an I instead of a Y.  Though, again, no one is allowed to call me that in public. ;)

Gita - Please do!  They are all great!

Yvonne - You are right!  We all enjoy the social aspect of this site so much we tend to forget it is more than just each other that are reading our posts.  We really should 'keep our eye on the prize' so to speak.

Terrylynn -I can't believe she would hide that from you....

Bryant - You are very welcome!  Your blog was a huge wake up call for all of us to get it together and really convey what staging REALLY IS.  We tend to focus on the possible benefits, not the basic purpose of why we do what we do.  Thanks for pointing that out to all of us!

Kim, thanks for including me in your summary.  My purpose in that blog was to gain more understanding of this crazy market and the consumer that we're trying so hard to please.  With the comments I've come to understand that what buyers want is pretty much the same throughout the US and Canada. Thus it's something that sellers have got to understand and start implementing.  BUT how do we really get the message out???  It's certainly not easy.
