Alameda Seniors and Estate Planning
Most Alameda seniors have made wills or trusts, but not all. Those are very important documents which seniors should considered as part of their estate planning. With a will or trust, seniors determine who receives their assets when they pass away. But there are other documents Alameda seniors need to be sure that they are covered for any situation.
A Durable Power of Attorney for asset management is an important document for Alameda seniors to include in their estate planning documents. You may name a person to act for you if you are unable to act for yourself.
An Advance Health Care Directive is a document in which you may name someone to speak for you if you are very ill and cannot speak for yourself. The California Medical Association has created an Advance Health Care Directive which your doctor can provide to you. This document is sometimes called a “living will” and it is another important document for Alameda Senior to include with their estate planning documents.
The best advice for Alameda seniors is to consult with their attorney, CPA or accountant and insurance agent to be sure that all your estate planning needs are covered.
