Year of the Green Wooden Sheep

Yes, it is nearly here….the Chinese New Year which starts on February 19, 2015. 

 

It is the year of the Green Wooden Sheep.  I love that! 

 

“Chinese Astrology uses one's birthday and birth time to predict their fortune. The astrological birth chart is built by the Chinese Astrology Calendar, which is a combination counting system of Yin-Yang Five Elements and 12 animals. The Five Elements are Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth. The twelve animal are Rat, Cow, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Chicken, Dog and Pig. Year of 2015 is Wooden Sheep. Because Wood (tree) is connected to the color of Green. Therefore, 2015 is the Year of Green Wooden Sheep”  - Chinese Fortune Calendar

 

Even if you don’t believe in Astrology, Chinese or otherwise, it is fun to check it out…just like we look for our horoscopes on our birthdays.  They are fun to read, but we never put great store in them. 

 

At any rate, next week I will offer up a pretty fair recipe that we love that is probably Americanized Chinese cooking, so stay tuned.

Hmmm, according to Belinda Spillman this is the Year of the Goat!! Did the Chinese calendar get its signals crossed? Either way, I am going to go to a Chinese banquet on Monday night to celebrate the new year -two days early!
